Meme
It's a really bad idea to either:
1. Keep context forever 2. Always delete context.
What we (humans) want is some way to:
1. Recall what we have learned. 2. Focus on projects that are the subject of current interest. 3. The ability to set aside a project, deal with the real world (like sleep) and restart the project.
So
Yes - we want relevant context to go into the current thread. No - we don't want all our past foibles to poison our current project.
