This is a description of a trend to abstract the idea of a telephone number into a pure Identifier.

While Google may have been the progenitor of this form of Notice-centric ID that is not important to the content of this page.
One good way from distinguishing a Notice-centric ID is by comparing two offering from Google in 2022. They each have some common features, line ringing an existing landline number, but the differences are what is important.
- Google FI
  - supports the 5G spectrum (and earlier version) for connectivity.
- Google Voice
  - services are mainly through VoLTE or LTE networks.
