The term Automaton was created by the Greeks to describe an inanimate object that could move of its own volition. But even a live human being can switch into automatic mode and become, for a while, an Automaton.
Context
An Automaton needs to be distinguished from a User Agent operating on behalf of a user or of a Digital Twin which is to act like a user would act.
