A cable that consists of a central conductor surrounded by insulation and a conductive braid or other shield around the outside.
Context
- In most environments an outer protective covering is applied over the shield.
- The capacity of a coaxial cable for either data or energy transmission is higher than other configurations, especially at high frequencies.
- The RG-6 cable is a 75 Ohm cable with F-Type connectors. This is the same cable used with many cable/satellite TV devices
- The original LAN cable used N-Type connectors.
