Demagogue

Definition

A political leader who seeks support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument.

Context

Normally this applies to nations where popular votes determine outcomes, but we will view its action in small, but still political organizations.

Warning Signs

When the Demagogue exhibit the following - beware of fascism.

  1. rejects the democratic norms
  2. denies legitimacy of opponents
  3. users or threatens violence
  4. curbs free expression
