Artificial

Also called a McCulloch-Pitts Neuron is an attempt to mimic an animal Neuron, originally with a purpose built computer system. While it was first described in 1947, it was not realized until Frank Rosenblatt built is Mark I computer using perceptrons as a primary physical element. He continued to build larger machines with more layer until his early death in 1971. Minskey and Papert wrote an entire book[1] where they purported to show that it was a dead-end idea which basically blocked progress on them til the 1980's. The Large Language Models that became popular in the early 2020's are based on Multi-Level Perceptrons (MLP).
