The part of the human Ecosystem that must be functional for the human Ecosystem to continue to function as needed.
Context
While society cannot continue to functions without its Critical Infrastructure and there have been individual departments of the US Federal government looking after parts of the Critical Infrastructure it took an Executive Order on Cybersecurity to bring the various pieces together on a single approach.
