Context

The context for US executive orders and for this wiki is the Critical Infrastructure that is part of the Digital Public Infrastructure and can be attacked remotely over the Internet.

While society cannot continue to functions without its Critical Infrastructure and there have been individual departments of the US Federal government looking after parts of the Critical Infrastructure it took an Executive Order on Cybersecurity to bring the various pieces together on a single approach.
