Order
Full Title or Meme
When things seem to be going in some well thought-out plan.
Context
Order is like beauty, it appears to be in the eye of the beholder. So if the universe is not beautiful until is beheld, can order be any different? [1]
Entropy
The question about the relationship between Order, Information and Entropy is not clear as each comes with a different set of assumptions. If I take a box of gas and slide a partition between the right and left sides and label all of the gas particles in the right side as R and all of the particles in the left side as L. I then remove the partition, wait a short while the particles will be all mixed up. So the order I created by labeling the particles is lost. The particles are now disordered.
Reversibility
The fact is that human kind evolved to take advantage of the flow of energy and matter that is available to us in our tiny little backwater of the whole wide universe. For us then order is the ecosystem where we were bred and the flow of energy that's available to us, nearly all of which comes from the apparently inexhaustible flow of photons from the sun and the collection of elements from prior suns. Into this ecosystem the idea of order an entropy has meaning. Other micro ecosystems might have very different concepts of order and the flow of time. And so Entropy calculations might yield very different results.
Even though civilization has known about Europa, Jupiter's fourth largest moon, for over 4 centuries, it is only recently that planetary scientists have probed there for signs of life. Europa shares the mixture of solid, liquid and gaseous matter present on Earth. "Essentially everywhere on Earth that there's water, there's life. Could there be life on Europa?"[2] If there were it would be nothing like the soft humans that life an earth as the client is some much for severe there.
Perhaps humans, or our robots, will be able to find a more advanced civilization that will have a better plan?
